BARN SWALLOW

Barn swallow is a cosmopolitan specie that lives and/or breeds on all continents, except in the polar regions. They breed throughout the Northern Hemisphere except Iceland and spend the winter in most areas of the Southern Hemisphere.

HOUSE MARTIN

Common House Martin is found throughout the European continent, from the southern Mediterranean countries to the far north of Scandinavia, as a summer breeding species.

In our country it is a summer visitor (March-October) while individuals may appear earlier (mid-February).

THREATS

Some of the threats faced by swallows are climate change, predation, Loss of habitat – wetlands and others.
